Two Area Beaches Closed

Based on samples taken on Wednesday July 23rd:
Sandpoint Beach and Seacliffe Beach in Leamington are closed due to bacteria count levels higher than acceptable.
As well, swimming is also not recommended at Cedar Island, Colchester, Hillman, Holiday, Lakeside and Northwest beaches.
All other beaches are safe.
Water samples to test for E.coli are taken every Wednesday. The samples are sent to a public health lab in London. Testing is done Thursday and the results are given to the Health Unit by Friday.
