Essex Windsor Emergency Medical Services has a new chief.

Bruce Krauter who has served as the Acting Chief of Essex Windsor EMS since late February, 2014 takes over as chief immediately.

Krauter brings thirty-two years of EMS experience to the Chief’s position, beginning his career as a primary care paramedic in Essex Windsor, holding progressively senior managerial roles with the former Sun Parlor EMS, Essex and Chatham-Kent Branches and most recently serving as Deputy Chief, Professional Standards at Essex Windsor EMS.

“Since beginning my paramedic career in Windsor in 1983, I have watched the ambulance services grow and evolve into the exceptional organization it is today.”, said Krauter. “I am honoured to be named the Chief, proud to be leading the professional Paramedic Team of Essex Windsor EMS and excited to continue and foster the highest quality of pre-hospital emergency care, while remaining in my home town and region.”

With a staff of approximately 300 paramedics and support staff, and an annual gross budget of $36,000,000, Essex-Windsor EMS provides emergency medical services to all residents in Windsor and Essex County and on Pelee Island.

Essex-Windsor EMS is principally funded by the County of Essex, the City of Windsor and the provincial government, and operates as a department of the County of Essex.
