The federal government has opened a third NEXUS lane at the Ambassador Bridge.
Officials say the new lane will be used to process NEXUS members during high-volume periods and as a regular lane at other times.
There are now three NEXUS lanes at the Ambassador Bridge crossing, bringing the total to six lanes available to NEXUS members in Windsor, Ontario.
The NEXUS program is designed to expedite the border clearance process for pre-approved, low-risk members travelling between Canada and the United States, allowing border services officers to focus on unknown or higher-risk travellers and goods.
Officials say NEXUS membership, which costs $50 for 5 years, has increased more than 50% since the end of 2011.
