When it comes to managing osteoarthritic knee joints (KOA) individual plans might be a little different. If you don’t know already the #1 thing you need to do when trying to manage KOA is to remain active. Being active leads to better weight management, reduced pain, better mobility, a healthier knee and an improved quality of life.
But, being active when you are in pain is sometimes (maybe all the time) a hard thing to do. So now it is about strategically managing pain so you can stay active. Protecting your joints, not over doing it, medications, devices, diet and building a support group or your pain management team is a priority.
Osteoarthritis in the knee is nothing new and either is bracing for it. I remember Monday March 11th, 1996. It was my first day of business and my first client referred to me was suffering from osteoarthritis in the knee. The doctor had prescribed a custom unloading knee brace. I wasn’t quite sure what to do. So we chatted and I made an appointment for him and I actually had to have my product rep come in from Toronto to assess the client and train me at the same time. It all worked out well (true story)!
Nowadays OA in the knee and bracing for it is an everyday regular occurrence. If you are a candidate for an unloading brace for osteoarthritis many orthopedic surgeons, therapist and other doctors will prescribe these to help minimize pain and protect the knee so you can stay active and lead an active life while waiting (or not) for a knee replacement.
Technology has come a long way and the braces are much easier to wear with more choices (when you visit Kinetic Konnection) and they are more effective.
If you think that you might be a candidate for an unloader knee brace for your osteoarthritis in your knee or have had one before I recommend that you take me up this 30 day trial Program. This technology is highly effective but not all get the same results and due to the costs of these braces it is nice to know whether or not it will work.
Osteoarthritis is a disease with no cure. You must find ways to manage your pain to preserve your quality of life.
