A new business model for hair styling was introduced to the South Windsor area, Saturday.
Dry Parlour Inc, an all-dry, no cut or colour salon, is a first for owners Sylvia Gounakis and George Kalivas.
They were inspired by the Toronto and New York blow dry bars and decided to bring it home to Windsor, fighting the “wouldn’t-work-in-Windsor” mentality.
Owners say it took them only a year to come up with this idea and put it in motion. Gounakis and Kalivas say they brainstormed with a notebook one night while they were out and the place was their best kept secret until now.
The pair hopes to establish a brand and build a franchise, expanding to the Chatham and London areas.
Present at the opening day was celebrity hair stylist, Gregory Patterson. When Gounakis and Kalivas wanted the best training, they knew they wanted him. Patterson has done work for Anne Hathaway, Kristen Bell, Britney Spears, Macklemore, the Hilton sisters, and many more.
Patterson stated that the blow-dry is the new shampoo and set of 2014. “We can take anyone from 16 years old to 116 years old, bring them in and have them walking out feeling fabulous.”
Dry Parlour Inc is located at 2814 Howard Avenue.
