A no-cut, no-color, blow-dry-only hair salon?
Such a concept exists and a new local business will be specializing in professional updos when it opens its doors later this month.
Dry Parlour Inc is set to be a one-of-a-kind hairstyle establishment where owners say you can treat your hair to professionally blown out styles, hair extensions, and updos using ‘hot winds’.
Owners George Kalivas and Sylvia Gounakis stress that they are technically not a salon by definition. “We blow dry! That means you walk into Dry Parlour Inc knowing you want your hair to feel easy, in this everyday shiny, floaty way – but in reality, that’s not the easiest look to actually pull off every day.”
“Simply put, we are challenging the ‘this wouldn’t work in Windsor’ attitude,” says Kalivas who along with Gounakis decided to bring the blow-dry-only concept to Windsor after being inspired elsewhere. “We had both witnessed the wild success of similar blow dry bars in both Toronto and NYC and wanted to reproduce the concept and business model in Windsor — a vibrant city with over 220,000 residents and no service as such in place.”
“Rather than leave the city yet again in search of new and better opportunities outside of it, we came together and decided it was time to create similar opportunities right here-within our native hometown,” says Gounakis.
The owners say they have a great response for when when people ask, ‘why would you create a place just to get your hair blow-dried?’
“Those of us who know just smile, because you won’t have to ask why after you try!”
Dry Parlour Inc will be open for regular business hours at their 2814 Howard Avenue location starting on Monday, April 28th following a grand opening party on the 26th.
