The Essex County Library, LaSalle Branch, in collaboration with the Town of LaSalle, invites participants to join in an exciting community project featuring a childhood favourite toy, LEGO bricks.
Starting Monday until completion, children ages six and up can participate by visiting the library to join in building a mosaic square made from LEGO. Once the community assembles the 432 mosaic squares, measuring 8×8 inches, it will reveal a surprise picture of a local favourite.
The mosaic was designed by the talented southwestern Ontarian artist Jim Wiebe. Wiebe worked in the automotive industry for 25 years before enrolling at the University of Windsor. He is studying in the Faculty of Education to become a high school tech teacher. He is married with two kids, ages 11 and 13. Jim has always been a lover of LEGO. He started creating LEGO mosaics seven years ago. The first mosaic was a portrait of his sons that he gave to his wife for Christmas.
Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by and supervised by an adult during this activity.
The Essex County Library, LaSalle Branch hours are Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, Friday and Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
