Ford Windsor Operations, Unifor Local 200 and Local 240, Leadec Industrial Services, and Penske Logistics announced a $508,189 donation on Thursday to United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County as part of its annual fundraising efforts to support local children and youth.
The Ford Windsor Site has contributed more than $58 million to the United Way.
“It is almost hard to comprehend the generosity over the years, year after year. It is truly amazing and I am really proud to be a part of what we do here at Ford with Unifor and in this community,” said Mike Felix, Ford Motor Company, Director of Manufacturing, Powertrain Operations.
Monies were raised through employee donations, 50/50 draws, Ford merchandise sales, special events, and corporate giving. The donation will help support United Way’s efforts to eliminate childhood poverty in the region.
“I really feel like our Ford brothers and sisters are some of the most generous people in Essex County. I’m astounded at the continued outpouring of generosity. I’m also so thankful that Ford Motor Company, for so long, has been such a big supporter of the United Way. It’s our biggest campaign we do and I’m proud of what we are doing,” said Christina Grossi, Unifor Local 240 1st Vice President.
