Windsor Police Launches Community Safety Initiative In Downtown Core

Wednesday July 5th, 2023, 8:23am

Windsor Police are deploying additional officers to the downtown core over the next two days to promote community safety and reduce incidents of crime.

Police say to expect an increased presence of uniformed police personnel on foot and bicycle.

This is the second time Windsor Police have carried out an initiative like this. The first was at the start of June.  In the first phase of the initiative, police converged downtown over a three-day period in early June to speak to business owners and operators. This time, they will turn their focus on connecting with the area’s homeowners, tenants and building managers with the goal of having fulsome discussions and developing a more strategic approach to address the needs and challenges of our downtown community.

The campaign will see members of the City Centre Patrol (CCP) bolstered by extra resources from the Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) Unit, Community Services, Cadets, Nurse Police Teams (NPT), and Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Teams (MCRRT).
