Police Issue Another Grandparents Scam Warning

OPP is warning residents of current “grandparent scams” in Essex County recently.

These circulating scams are referred to as emergency scams, or sometimes “Grandparent” or “Grandchild” scams. These scams usually involve a phone call to the victim claiming that a loved one is in trouble either with the police or courts, and some form of payment is required to help them out.

They encourage everyone to speak to their friends and family about this scam.

They also stress that police and lawyers do not call and request cash to have a family member released from jail.
