The Welcome Centre Shelter for Women & Families, in partnership with Unifor Skilled Trades Council and Lancers Men’s Hockey team, is holding its first post-COVID event on December 4th, 2022.

Their first annual Hockey and Holidays fundraiser will be held at the Capri Pizzeria Centre. It will raise awareness and funds for emergency supports to the hundreds of women and kids who access shelter annually. Families can drop in anytime between 2:00pm to 4:00pm to do cookie and ornament decorating and say hello to Santa. At 4:00pm, families are invited to watch the Windsor Lancers Men’s Hockey team take on TMU at the arena.

“It’s a chance for families to support the agency by hanging out, having fun, watching some great hockey and making memories,” said Lady Laforet, Executive Director of the Welcome Centre Shelter. “Kids programming, harm reduction programming, medical care, drop-in- we’ve been expanding quickly to meet the needs of our clients. The community really helps keep that momentum going by supporting events like this.”

Tickets are available through Eventbrite for $20 per person, including hotdog, snack and drink, with a family of 4 packages available for $70. Those who cannot attend the event can purchase sponsor tickets to donate to families currently in shelter.
