Public Board Trustees Select Leadership

Trustee Gale Simko-Hatfield (Windsor Wards 5,6,7 & 8) has been acclaimed as Chairperson of the Public School Board for the next year.

The vote was conducted at the Board’s annual Organizational Meeting, during which leadership and committee structures were established for the upcoming 12 months.

Simko-Hatfield, who was first elected as a Trustee in 1991, has previously served 9 terms as Chair of the Board. “It is reassuring to know that my experience and dedication are valued and I pledge to fulfill the responsibility as Chair to the best of my ability,” she told her colleagues.

Trustee Cathy Cooke (Windsor Wards 5,6,7, & 8) will return for a third consecutive year as Vice-chair.

Connie Buckler (Tecumseh / Lakeshore) was acclaimed as Chair of the board’s Education Committee.  The Operations and Finance Committee will be chaired by Trustee Ron LeClair (LaSalle / Amherstburg).

The Board of Trustees will hold their first full, public meeting of this term on Tuesday, December 6^th.
