Bright Lights Windsor returns in just two weeks and a day and the city has announced several new additions to the hugely popular festival.

Mayor Drew Dilkens announced improvements and new events planned as part of the festival during a media event, Thursday afternoon.

Highlights include a new park theme — Take It All In –, sensory friendly nights, the return of the holiday market, a new Royal Promenade in honour of Her Majesty, the late Queen Elizabeth II, Santa’s Workshop, Peace & Love Around the World, W.E. the North, a new Children’s Enchanted Village, where kids can write letters to Santa inside a giant igloo, the return of the Holiday Train, and a new scavenger hunt.

“Bright Lights Windsor is back, and we’re inviting everyone to ‘take it all in’ at Jackson Park’s incredible wonderland,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. “From the Holiday Train and Enchanted Children’s Village, to Santa’s Workshop and the new Royal Promenade honouring the late Queen Elizabeth II – there’s something for everyone.”

What’s New This Year

  • This year’s theme is “Take It All In,” and the path this year takes you through a series of exciting zones: Wish Upon a Star; Winter Wonderland; the new Royal Promenade in honour of Her Majesty, the late Queen Elizabeth II; Santa’s Workshop; Peace & Love Around the World; W.E. the North, and a new Children’s Enchanted Village, where kids can write letters to Santa from the comfort of an inflatable igloo, or ride the Holiday Train and enjoy a new scavenger hunt, sponsored by Libro Credit Union. Opportunities to be wowed at every turn and excellent settings for the perfect picture – including some fun new selfie stations – will be abundant.

  • The WE Made It: Holiday Market returns, sponsored by Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island in partnership with the Urban Art Market, Rose City Etsy Team and WindsorEats. The full holiday market will be open Fridays and Saturdays, with a partial market for food and beverages operating during the week. Along with the market, several excellent local food and beverage options will be available.
  • Sensory friendly “Silent Nights” are offered on Tuesday evenings. The lights will be on, but sound will be muted and strobe elements paused so the display can be enjoyed in a peaceful environment that is accommodating to sensory sensitivities.

  • Encouraging Windsor’s incredible charitable spirit will be a priority once again this year, and each week Bright Lights will have a designated hut for a Community Giving Partner to showcase. W.E. Care for Kids will be here with hot chocolate on weekends for the duration, and weekly showcases will also feature Operation Keep Windsor Warm; Noah’s House Mental Health Foundation Inc.; Ronald McDonald House Charities – Southwestern Ontario; Feeding Windsor Essex; Sleep In Heavenly Peace – Windsor; and In Honour of the Ones We Love, Inc..

Opening ceremonies take place this year at 6:30pm on Friday, December 2nd, 2022, after which the event runs every night from 5:30pm to 10:00pm until January 8th, 2023.
