Phase 1 of the improvements to the County Road 42 corridor between County Road 19 (Manning Road) and the City of Windsor is set to get underway this month.
This phase will include underground work from Concession 11 to Pike Creek and is anticipated to take 14 to 16 months. Construction will progress in sections along the corridor.
Two temporary traffic lanes will be created so new storm and sanitary sewers and a new watermain can be installed. This will allow for the creation of two roundabouts, roadway widening of County Road 42 and re-alignment of County Road 43, all of which will take place during future phases of construction.
Throughout Phase 1 construction, residents and businesses along the corridor will continue to have access to their properties, but delays and possible short-term disruptions to driveways are possible.
The County of Essex has created a web page with up-to-date information about this major, multi-year project that will increase road capacity and enhance neighbourhood connectivity. Visit: countyofessex.ca/CR42/.
