The Town of LaSalle has received a $398,200 Community Building Fund  Capital stream grant grant that has funded the replacement of the  ice rink refrigeration system, 12 rooftop HVAC units, and repair part of the roof at the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex.

The project is currently underway and will extend the useful life of the Town’s recreational facility.

“Sports are vital to a community. Having a safe, up-to-date facility where our young people can play sports is important, and I am very pleased to see these improvements being made to LaSalle’s Vollmer Complex,” said Anthony Leardi, MPP for Essex.

The repairs and replacement are critical components including roof sections, aging HVAC units, and vital parts of the ice rink refrigeration system. The Vollmer Complex opened in 2008 and is the Town’s only recreation centre that offers numerous activities, programs, and services to thousands of patrons annually. The Vollmer Complex is also the Town’s evacuation site for displaced residents in the event of an emergency.

“The receipt of this grant is important to our community,” said Marc Bondy, Mayor. “This complex is a community hub that brings people together strengthening social bonds and civic pride. We sincerely thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their support of the Town of LaSalle.”
