The Town of Essex has been recognized by the Lifesaving Society Ontario for lifeguarding achievements in leadership training and lifesaving programs, earning both the R. Bredin Stapells Cup – Per Capita Category and the Scarborough Cup for 2021.
The award presented annually to the municipal affiliate with the largest leadership training program per capita and the Scarborough Cup is presented annually to the municipal affiliate with the largest lifesaving program in a community with a population between 10,000 and 50,000.
The Town of Essex ranked top 15 program provider out of over 900 affiliates.
“2021 was a challenging year, and we are thrilled to receive this recognition from the Lifesaving Society of Ontario.” said Cynthia Cakebread, Manager, Recreation and Culture. “We have an incredible team, and we are thrilled to see them awarded for their hard work and dedication.”
