Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 58 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.

NOTE: The Health Unit will only be releasing COVID-19 Public Health Updates on Tuesdays and Thursdays, going forward.

Active Cases

There are 254 high-risk cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 1 active high-risk case since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s COVID-19 vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

• 357,206 people locally have received one dose of a vaccine (+37 since yesterday)
• 345,670 people locally have received a 2nd dose of a vaccine (+70 since yesterday)
• 195,946 people locally have received a 3rd dose of a vaccine (+125 since yesterday)
• 18,169 people locally have received a 4th dose of a vaccine (+815 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 86.6 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 83.8 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 51.6 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths

The Health Unit announced 3 additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 613. They say a man in his 70s from the community, a man in his 80s from the community, and a woman in her 80s from a long-term care or retirement home passed away.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 49 hospitalizations today (increase of 1), and 4 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (increase of 1).
