The City of Windsor Bicycling Committee and Bike Windsor Essex are bringing back Bike to Work Day this Friday, May 20th.

Organizers are inviting cyclists to enjoy a bike ride from the Bike Kitchen (located at 628 Monmouth Road) to the Ambassador Bridge and onwards to Jackson Park. City Windsor staff will be on hand at the park to gather feedback on what would help make the City a better place to ride.

Riders are welcome to leave the ride at any time along the way to get to school or work. The consultation will occur at the picnic pavilion in the southwest section of the park from 8am to 10am. Beverages and light fare will be available.

The theme of the event is ride and engage. Ideas and comments shared by participants will be brought forward to the Windsor City Council through the Windsor Cycling Committee for them to review and consider at a subsequent Council meeting.

“Our Committee’s mandate is to enhance the safety and viability of cycling in our community. For Bike to Work Day, we are asking the community to tell us directly what they believe it will take to get more people to integrate cycling into their daily routines,” said Windsor City Councillor Kieran McKenzie, Chair of the Windsor Bicycling Committee. “Supporting commuter and everyday cycling in Windsor should be a priority,” says Lori Newton, Executive Director of Bike Windsor Essex. “Many more residents would choose riding their bike over taking their car for short trips if we had a connected network of safe cycling infrastructure.”
