The Art Gallery of Windsor has a new name and a new brand.

Now known as Art Windsor-Essex (AWE), officials say the new name, combined with a new digitally animated logo and new colour palette, will reflect the 2021-25 Strategic Plan.

“In a world that’s changing faster than ever, art is there to interpret the moment. Questioning, investigating, playing, challenging ideas, and creating change,” says Jennifer Matotek, Executive Director of Art Windsor-Essex. “Art has the power to transform, open minds, start conversations, spark debates, and make you feel. And that’s exactly what we’re after.”

The rebrand is the result of months of planning, consultation, community feedback and inspiration under the leadership of the Brand Task Force, who developed a criteria and direction for the selected agency, Friends & Enemies, to follow, finalize, and eventually bring to life.

Officials say the new brand reflects a shift in their strategic direction and mission and how they want to connect to the community.

“Our aim is to be more than a gallery: it’s to harness the power of art to open minds and hearts to new ideas, perspectives and ways of thinking that inspire people to grow emotionally and intellectually. This is exemplified through the act of renaming and rebranding the Gallery after speaking with over 200 members of our community and weaving their feedback into the process,” said a news release.
