Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update From The Weekend

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 307 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County from over the weekend. The Health Unit does not report case counts and statistics on weekends but provides a weekend summary. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.

Total Cases & Active Cases

Total overall cases increased from 42,455 on Friday, April 22nd to 42,766 on Monday, April 23rd.

There are 350 high-risk cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 50 active high-risk cases since Friday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s COVID-19 vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

• 357,003 people locally have received one dose of a vaccine (+96 since Friday)
• 345,293 people locally have received a 2nd dose of a vaccine (+113 since Friday)
• 195,294 people locally have received a 3rd dose of a vaccine (+189 since Friday)
• 13,378 people locally have received a 4th dose of a vaccine (+1,254 since Friday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 86.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since Friday)
• 83.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since Friday)
• 51.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of 0.1 per cent since Friday)

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 and the local death stands at 607.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 58 hospitalizations today (decrease of 4), and 4 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (increase of 2).
