Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Wednesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 131 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Wednesday. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.
Total Cases & Active Cases
Total overall cases increased from 41,242 on Tuesday, April 12th to 41,373 on Wednesday, April 13th.
There are 405 high-risk cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 23 active high-risk cases since yesterday).
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).
- 356,699 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+41 since yesterday)
- 344,820people have received both doses of a vaccine (+65 since yesterday)
- 194,303 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+105 since yesterday)
Vaccination Percentages
- 86.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 83.6 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 51.2 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 and the local death toll stands at 598.

The Health Unit lists 54 hospitalizations today (decrease of 1), and 2 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (decrease of 1).
