Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 79 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.

Total Cases & Active Cases

Total overall cases increased from 42,766 on Monday, April 25th to 42,848 on Tuesday, April 26th.

There are 361 high-risk cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 11 active high-risk cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s COVID-19 vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

• 357,035 people locally have received one dose of a vaccine (+32 since yesterday)
• 345,330 people locally have received a 2nd dose of a vaccine (+37 since yesterday)
• 195,374 people locally have received a 3rd dose of a vaccine (+80 since yesterday)
• 14,124 people locally have received a 4th dose of a vaccine (+746 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 86.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 83.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 51.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths

The Health Unit announced one additional death from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 608. They say a woman in her 90s from the community passed away.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 74 hospitalizations today (increase of 16), and 4 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU.
