Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Friday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 74 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Friday. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.

Total Cases & Active Cases

There are 315 high-risk cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 49 active high-risk cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s COVID-19 vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

• 357,104 people locally have received one dose of a vaccine (+43 since yesterday)
• 345,481 people locally have received a 2nd dose of a vaccine (+90 since yesterday)
• 195,624 people locally have received a 3rd dose of a vaccine (+162 since yesterday)
• 16,239 people locally have received a 4th dose of a vaccine (+1,434 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 86.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 83.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 51.6 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths

The Health Unit announced two additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death to 610. They say a man in his 90s from a long-term care or retirement home, and a woman in her 70s from the community passed away.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 51 hospitalizations today, and 4 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU.
