Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Friday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 149 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Friday. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.
Total Cases & Active Cases
Total overall cases increased from 42,303 on Thursday, April 21st to 42,455 on Friday, April 22nd.
There are 409 high-risk cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 23 active high-risk cases since yesterday).
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s COVID-19 vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).
- 356,907 people locally have received one dose of a vaccine (+37 since yesterday)
- 345,180 people locally have received a 2nd dose of a vaccine (+75 since yesterday)
- 195,105 people locally have received a 3rd dose of a vaccine (+8 since yesterday)
- 12,124 people locally have received a 4th dose of a vaccine (+926 since yesterday)
Vaccination Percentages
- 86.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 83.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 51.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths
The Health Unit announced three additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death to 607. They say 2 men and 1 woman in their 80s from long-term care or retirement homes passed away.

The Health Unit lists 62 hospitalizations today (increase of 4), and 2 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU.
