Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Wednesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 88 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Wednesday. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.

Total Cases & Active Cases

Total overall cases increased from 39,125 on Tuesday, March 22nd to 39,213 on Wednesday, March 23rd.

There are 311 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 69 active cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

  • 356,176 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+39 since yesterday)
  • 343,389 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+143 since yesterday)
  • 191,960 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+217 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

  • 86.3 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 83.2 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 50.6 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 and the local death toll stands at 591.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 26 hospitalizations today (increase of 3), and 3 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (increase of 1).
