Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 48 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday. The Health Unit now only reports high-risk cases as testing eligibility is still limited.
Total Cases & Active Cases
Total overall cases increased from 37,646 on Monday, February 28th to 37,693 on Tuesday, March 1st.
There are 259 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 24 cases since yesterday).
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).
- 355,456 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+49 since yesterday)
- 341,197 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+117 since yesterday)
- 188,662 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+176 since yesterday)
Vaccination Percentages
- 86.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 82.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 53.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths
The Health Unit announced two additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 578. They say a man in his 50s from the community, and a man in his 80s from a long-term care or retirement home passed away.
Hospitalizations
The Health Unit 52 hospitalizations today (increase of 3), and 5 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (decrease of 4).
