Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Thursday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 84 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Thursday. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.

Total Cases & Active Cases

Total overall cases increased from 38,266 on Wednesday, March 9th to 38,345 on Thursday, March 10th.

There are 249 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 6 active cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

• 355,778 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+15 since yesterday)
• 342,099 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+61 since yesterday)
• 190,000 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+118 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 86.2 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 82.9 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 53.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths

The Health Unit announced two additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 585. They say a man in his 50s from the community passed away, and a man in his 90s from the community passed away.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 26 hospitalizations today (increase of 4), and 6 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (increase of 1).
