Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Thursday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 88 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Thursday.

Total Cases & Active Cases

Total overall cases increased from 37,780 on Wednesday, March 2nd to 37,868 on Thursday, March 3rd.

There are 270 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 7 cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

• 355,604 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+35 since yesterday)
• 341,516 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+104 since yesterday)
• 189,109 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+195 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 86.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 82.8 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 53.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

The Health Unit 47 hospitalizations today (increase of 6), and 5 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU.
