Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update From The Weekend

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 233 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County from over the weekend. The Health Unit does not report case counts and statistics on weekends but provides a weekend summary. The Health Unit only reports high-risk cases as testing eligibility is still limited.

Total Cases & Active Cases

Of the 233 new cases:

  • 101 were reported on February 26th
  • 84 were reported on February 27th
  • 48 were reported on February 28th

Total overall cases increased from 37,398 on Friday, February 25th to 37,646 on Monday, February 28th.

There are 283 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 12 cases since Friday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

  • 355,407 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+142 since Friday)
  • 341,080 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+528 since Friday)
  • 188,486 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+857 since Friday)

Vaccination Percentages

  • 86.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since Friday)
  • 82.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.2 per cent since Friday)
  • 53.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of 0.1 per cent since Friday)
