Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 115 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday. The Health Unit now only reports high-risk cases as testing eligibility is still limited.

New & Total Cases

Total overall cases increased from 34,824 on Monday, January 31st to 34,937 on Tuesday, February 1st.

There are 1,268 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 89 cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

• 352,881 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+189 since yesterday)
• 334,776 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+330 since yesterday)
• 178,282 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+696 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 85.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 81.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 51.0 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths

The Health Unit announced 3 additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 551:

• 1 man in his 70s from the community
• 1 man in his 90s from the community
• 1 woman in her 90s from a long-term care or retirement home

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 69 hospitalizations today (decrease of 27), and 13 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (decrease of 1).
