Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Thursday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 119 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Thursday. The Health Unit now only reports high-risk cases as testing eligibility is still limited.

Total Cases & Active Cases

Total cases were not available on Wednesday. Total overall cases increased from on Tuesday, February 8th to 36,162 on Thursday, February 10th.

There are 641 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 54 cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

• 353,971 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+102 since yesterday)
• 337,225 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+232 since yesterday)
• 182,446 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+466 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 85.8 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 81.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 52.2 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of 0.2 per cent since yesterday)

Deaths

The Health Unit announced 2 additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 572:

• 1 woman in her 50s from the community
• 1 man in his 80s from the community

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 62 hospitalizations today (decrease of 5), and 8 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (decrease of 1).
