The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 439 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Wednesday.

NOTE: The Health Unit stresses that due to the recent surge in Omicron cases and changes in eligibility for testing, testing capacity is limited and case, contact, and outbreak management has been modified to focus on high-risk settings. As a result, they say case counts are an underestimate of the true number of individuals with COVID-19 in Windsor-Essex.

New & Total Cases

The Health Unit says 4 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 22 cases are community acquired, 3 cases are outbreak related, 1 case is travel related, and the acquisition sources of 409 cases are still under investigation.

Total overall cases increased from 29,520 on Tuesday January 11th to 29,959 on Wednesday January 12th.

There are 3,651 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 328 cases since yesterday).
