The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 359 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Friday.
NOTE: The Health Unit stresses that due to the recent surge in Omicron cases and changes in eligibility for testing, testing capacity is limited and case, contact, and outbreak management has been modified to focus on high-risk settings. As a result, they say case counts are an underestimate of the true number of individuals with COVID-19 in Windsor-Essex.
New & Total Cases
The Health Unit says 10 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 9 cases are community acquired, 1 case is outbreak related, and the acquisition sources of 339 cases are still under investigation.
Total overall cases increased from 27,733 on Thursday January 6th to 28,092 on Friday January 7th.
There are 2,644 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 118 cases since yesterday).
