COVID-19 Cases Reported At Nine More Windsor Essex Public Schools

The Greater Essex County District School Board is reporting COVID-19 cases at nine more public schools in Windsor-Essex.
The board is reporting:
- one case in a staff member at Belle River District High School on December 6th
- one additional case in a student at Centennial Central Public School on December 4th
- one additional case in a student at Centennial Central Public school on December 6th
- one additional case in a student at Dr. David Suzuki Public School on December 3rd
- one case in a staff member at Giles Campus French Immersion Public School on December 5th
- one additional case in a student at Herman Academy – Secondary on December 5th
- one case in a student at Hugh Beaton Public School on December 4th
- one case in a student at Sandwich Secondary School on December 4th
- one additional case in a student at Southwood Public School on December 3rd
- one additional case in a student at Tecumseh Vista – Elementary on December 5th
Note: With the public board there is sometimes a delay of several days between the confirmation of a case and the public reporting of that case.
Greater Essex County District School Board public relations officer Scott Scantlebury has said the board does not release information about the number of cohorts or students affected by the case.
The board sent letters to the Belle River District school community, the Centennial Central school community, the Dr. David Suzuki school community, the Giles Campus school community, the Herman school community, the Hugh Beaton school community, the Sandwich Secondary school community, the Southwood school community, and the Tecumseh Vista school community.
“We have been working with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) by providing lists of students and staff who may have been in contact with the individual,” the letters state. “If you have not been contacted, you or your child (ren) have not been identified as close contacts. The WECHU is contacting any individuals (students and staff) who have an identified high-risk exposure with the confirmed case and will give directions to follow.
The board has reported 238 cases to date.
