The Greater Essex County District School Board is reporting more COVID-19 cases at fourteen public schools in Windsor-Essex.

The board is reporting:

  • one case in a student at Bellewood Public School on December 9th
  • one additional case in a student at Centennial Central Public School on December 8th
  • one case in a staff member at D.M. Eagle Public School on December 8th
  • two cases in students at East Mersea Public School on December 10th
  • one additional case in a student at Eastwood Public School on December 8th

  • one additional case in a student at Gore Hill Public School on December 9th
  • one case in a staff member at Herman Academy – Elementary on December 8th
  • two additional cases in students at Hugh Beaton Public School on December 8th, one additional case in a student on December 9th, and one additional case in a student on December 10th

Greater Essex County District School Board public relations officer Scott Scantlebury has said the board does not release information about the number of cohorts or students affected by the case.

The board sent letters to the Bellewood school community, the Centennial Central school community, the D.M. Eagle school community, the East Mersea school community, the Eastwood school community, the Forest Glade Public school community, the Gore Hill school community, the Herman Academy – Elementary school community, the Hugh Beaton school community, the Jack Miner Public school community, the Leamington District school community, the M.D. Bennie school community, the Mount Carmel-Blytheswood school community, and the Sandwich West Public school community.

“We have been working with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) by providing lists of students and staff who may have been in contact with the individual,” the letters state. “If you have not been contacted, you or your child (ren) have not been identified as close contacts. The WECHU is contacting any individuals (students and staff) who have an identified high-risk exposure with the confirmed case and will give directions to follow.
