Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Friday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 75 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Friday.

New & Total Cases

The Health Unit says 34 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 21 cases are community acquired, 1 case is outbreak related, 1 case is travel related, and the acquisition sources of 18 cases are still under investigation.

Total overall cases increased from 21,428 on Thursday November 25th to 21,503 on Friday November 26th.

They say 421 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 29 since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex):

  • 330,225 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+988 since yesterday)
    • 13,813 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (+748 since yesterday)
    • 316,412 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+240 since yesterday)
    • 19,398 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+1,121 since yesterday)
  • A total of 666,035 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+2,349 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

  • 75.3 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.2 per cent since yesterday)
    • 86.8 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 12+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 72.2 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
    • 83.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 12+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 4.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (increase of 0.3 per cent since yesterday)

Note: The Health Unit says 438,001 people are living in Windsor and Essex County presently.

The Health Unit lists 20,611 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 46 resolved cases since yesterday.

Deaths

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 today and the local death toll stands at 471.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 14 hospitalizations today: 8 people in acute care (decrease of 10), and 6 people in the ICU (increase of 1) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
