Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Friday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 59 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Friday.

New & Total Cases

The Health Unit says 23 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 19 cases are community acquired, 3 cases are outbreak related, and the acquisition sources of 14 cases are still under investigation.

Total overall cases increased from 21,095 on Thursday November 18th to 21,154 on Friday November 19th.

They say 350 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 24 since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex):

  • 328,277 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+189 since yesterday)
    • 13,757 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (-76 since yesterday)
    • 314,520 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+265 since yesterday)
    • 11,718 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+700 since yesterday)
  • A total of 654,515 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+1,154 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

  • 74.9 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
    • 86.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 12+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 71.8 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
    • 82.9 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 12+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
  • 2.6 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

Note: The Health Unit says 438,001 people are living in Windsor and Essex County presently.

The Health Unit lists 20,336 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 35 resolved cases since yesterday.

Deaths

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 and the local death toll stands at 468.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 21 hospitalizations today: 16 people in acute care (increase of 2), and 5 people in the ICU (decrease of 1) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
