The Via Italia BIA partnered up with the City of Windsor and Windsor Police Services for a second annual community alley clean-up day. Over 40 volunteers got together and dispersed out in to the alleyways in the Via Italia neighbourhoods, picking up garbage and recycling and beautifying the area.

As noted in a press release, Windsor City Councillor, Chris Holt, proudly and happily joined in on the efforts Saturday morning. ‘Exclaims Councillor Holt, “I am thrilled that once again the neighbourhood will be collectively rolling up our sleeves to beautify the alleys that tie us all together. Between the significant investment the BIA is making in lighting our alleys, and the neighbours’ efforts in keeping them clean, we will undoubtedly see crime go down, and resident and business enjoyment go up! I am proud to join everyone on Oct 30th to help make Via Italia an even better place to live, work and play!” ‘

Via Italia is engaged in an ongoing Alley Safety Initiative that began last year with the addition of six LED alley lights and is expecting the installation of an additional 41 lights in area alleyways by end of year. These new LED lights will help improve and extend the safety within the alley network to create conditions where people feel safer, and activity becomes more positive and accountable, the press release also notes.
