Hello time traveller!!
This article is 898 days old.
The information listed below is likely outdated and has been preserved for archival purposes.

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 110 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County from over the Thanksgiving weekend. The Health Unit does not report case counts and statistics on weekends but provides a weekend summary.

New & Total Cases

Of the 110 cases: 43 were reported on October 9th, 32 were reported on October 10th, 14 were reported on October 11th, and 21 were reported on October 12th.

The Health Unit says 67 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 21 cases are community acquired, 6 cases are travel related, 6 cases are outbreak related, and the acquisition sources of 10 cases are still under investigation.

Total overall cases increased from 19,978 on Friday October 8th to 20,088 on Tuesday October 12th.

They say 241 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 14 since Friday).

Variants of Concern

The Health Unit says 4,580 preliminary or confirmed variant of concern cases have been identified to date (increase of 71  since Friday).

Variant case strains:

  • 1,839 of the total variant cases to date have been the Alpha variant (B.1.1.7) (increase of 1 since Friday)
