The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 31 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Wednesday.

New & Total Cases

The Health Unit says 20 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 8 cases are community acquired, 1 case is travel related, 1 case is outbreak related, and the acquisition source of 1 case is still under investigation.

Total overall cases increased from 20,088 on Tuesday October 12th to 20,119 on Wednesday October 13th.

They say 247 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 6 since yesterday).

Variants of Concern

The Health Unit says 4,592 preliminary or confirmed variant of concern cases have been identified to date (increase of 12 since yesterday).

Variant case strains:

  • 1,839 of the total variant cases to date have been the Alpha variant (B.1.1.7)
