Local Expert Blog: Hit The Floor

Outdoor events, big or small, are refreshing. However, unlike holding an event inside, there will be some items and supplies you will need to consider acquiring to make your event as comfortable for your guests as possible.

Often, people immediately jump to the obvious supplies like tables, chairs, or dishes. And while all those items are necessary, there’s one that doesn’t always cross people’s mind.

Flooring.

Grassy areas can be bumpy and patios can be too small for the number of guests you’re inviting, especially if social distancing is here to stay. So, if you’re looking to extend your patio area or want it to be level (no stepping into rabbit holes here) or both, flooring may be the way to go.

Flooring misunderstanding: the main benefit of flooring is to keep tables and chairs from sinking into the grass.

If you’re renting tables and chairs from an event supply company, those items should be outfitted to be used on cement or grass. In other words, whether or not you use flooring, your tables and chairs shouldn’t be sinking into the ground.

Dance the night away.

Of course, flooring is good for more than extending your patio area. Depending on the type of event your hosting, a dancefloor may be necessary. Again, you don’t want someone tripping over rocks and bumps while they do the Cupid Shuffle.

Another benefit of installing a dancefloor is that it creates a designated space for people to show off their moves. This way you can establish specific areas within your space – the dance area, the bar area, the food area, and so on. It will keep things better organized and from guests bumping into one another.
