Windsor Regional Hospital is increasing capacity at its COVID-19 assessment centre due to higher demand for COVID-19 testing.

They say 192 swab tests for COVID-19 were conducted on Wednesday, August 10th. This marks the highest one-day testing volume since 216 individuals were tested on April 26th, according to the hospital.

Hospital officials say this continues a recent upward trend noticed in the last two weeks.

“The numbers remind us the need to be cautious, to continue to follow public health guidance – and most importantly, to get a vaccine,” said Windsor Regional Chief of Staff, Dr. Wassim Saad.

Testing for symptomatic individuals at the Ouellette Campus COVID-19 Assessment Centre is open seven days a week from 7:00am to 3:00pm, by appointment only.

In order to schedule a COVID-19 assessment appointment, you’re asked to visit https://www.wrh.on.ca/OnlineBooking on your mobile device or computer and select a certain date/time for your appointment or by “first available time.”

You’ll require a health card when booking.

You can also book by phone at 519-973-4443.

The hospital says same day and next day appointments are generally available. The hospital plans to further increase staff resources if necessary to accommodate higher demand to ensure same and next day testing remains available.
