Hello time traveller!!

The information listed below is likely outdated and has been preserved for archival purposes.

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 158 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County from over the weekend. The Health Unit no longer reports case counts and statistics on weekends and now provides a weekend summary on Mondays.

New & Total Cases

Of the 158 cases, 33 cases were reported on August 21st, 91 cases on August 22nd, and 34 cases on August 23rd.

The Health Unit says 49 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 30 cases are community acquired, 5 cases are outbreak related, 5 cases are travel related, and the acquisition sources of 69 cases are still under investigation.

Total overall cases increased from 17,500 on Friday August 20th to 17,658 on Monday August 23rd.

They say 391 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 38 since Friday).

Variants of Concern

The Health Unit says 2,510 preliminary or confirmed variant of concern cases have been identified to date (increase of 250).

Variant case strains:

  • 1,834 of the total variant cases to date have been the Alpha / U.K. Variant (B.1.1.7)
