Windsor Tecumseh MPP Percy Hatfield has announced he will be retiring in 2022.
The former Windsor city councillor has held his role at Queen’s Park for the last eight years.
“After careful consideration, I have decided to retire at the end of my term in office and not seek re-election in 2022,” Hatfield said. “Serving as the MPP for Windsor—Tecumseh has been a great honour and I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me by my constituents over these past eight years, but I believe it is now time for me to step aside and make room for new voices from our community.”
Hatfield says he looks back on his time in office with great satisfaction.
“I have worked and lobbied hard everyday to bring the priorities of our community to the legislature, and to tackle the big issues facing workers and families in Windsor, Tecumseh and across Ontario,” he said. “I am particularly proud to have established Ontario’s first Poet Laureate, and for the privilege to serve as a deputy speaker in the Ontario legislature.”
