Friday’s heavy rainfall impacted both campuses of Windsor Regional Hospital, officials said in a statement.
They say water damage did not affect patient services with the exception of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at the Ouellette Campus, which is now closed until at least later in the day on Monday. The hospital says rainwater impacted the sub-basement and basement area where the cath lab area and equipment is located. Any emergency patients who would normally receive treatment at the cath lab will need to be diverted to other hospitals outside of the region.
The hospital says patients scheduled for non-emergent cath lab procedures today and this weekend will be notified.
The other major area where patients/visitors will notice significant water issues is in the Ouellette Campus parking garage. The hospital says security personnel will be directing traffic in the parking garage while crews work to clear water from the main level and basement level.
Flood water is being cleared from the floors of various areas including the kitchens of both campuses. At Ouellette, water is being cleaned up at the Medical Device and Reprocessing (MDRD) unit, the Bell building as well as water in the OR area. At Met Campus, there is some water on floors being cleared out of the Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging, Medical Day Care and the paediatric unit.
“I want to thank our WRH team for once again responding to the flooding, cleaning it up and limiting patient impact,” said President and CEO David Musyj.
