One of Essex County’s summer festivals has announced it’s returning this summer.

Art By The River will take place on the grounds of Fort Malden National Historic Site in Amherstburg this August.

Organziers say this year’s show will look a bit different to accommodate public health guidelines, including reduced capacity, one-way traffic flow for social distancing, no food concessions, no live entertainment, and no live artists workshops.

Art by the River, now in its 54th year, is the main fundraiser for the Gibson Gallery, which is run by a volunteer board of directors. The Gibson Gallery is the former Michigan Central Railway station that has been on Richmond Street since 1896 and houses an art gallery, artisan gift shop, a Michigan Central Caboose, and needlework and artists’ guilds.

Organizers say Art by the River could be one of the only events taking place in Ontario this summer.

It festival will take place Saturday August 28th and and Sunday August 29th, 2021, from 10:00am to 5:00pm.  Admission will be $5 and children under 12 will be free with adult admission.
