The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced its next CEO.
Nicole Dupuis, who is currently the Director of Health Promotion, will take on the new role starting July 1st. Dupuis will replace CEO Theresa Marentette who is retiring.
Dupuis has been a member of the Health Unit’s senior leadership team for the past eight years and has led public health initiatives in the community.

Outgoing CEO Theresa Marentette is pictured during a media tour of the WFCU Centre’s vaccination facility on March 3rd, 2021.
“[Dupuis] and I instantly connected upon her arrival in 2014 and have worked closely on many initiatives throughout our time together,” says Marentette. “I have the upmost respect for Nicole as a colleague and a friend and I am certain the transition will be a smooth one.”
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed says Dupuis has worked on many public health matters over the years including the return of fluoride to the drinking water, the legalization of cannabis, and the introduction of seniors’ dental health programs. He says he’s looking forward to working with Dupuis in her new role as CEO.
The Health Unit says Dupuis was selected after an “extensive and thorough recruitment strategy.”
