Windsor Regional Hospital has launched a staff recruitment drive to attract registered nurses to key areas of the hospital operations, with government-backed incentives to help attract qualified workers.

“We are searching Canada and the U.S.A. for energetic, dedicated, critical care, PACU, OR and medical/surgical team members who share our commitment of care delivery in our wonderful community,” said WRH Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Executive Karen Riddell.

A new website, www.wrhcareers.ca, is now active, providing an online portal for those seeking nursing opportunities in Critical Care, Medical/Surgical and Post-Anaesthesia Care Units at both hospital campuses.

The site notes that nurses with experience, proficiency and wisdom will appreciate WRH’s flexible scheduling, innovative nursing leaders, opportunities for education and advancement and a welcoming medical department.

The hospital is one of several Ontario hospitals that are eligible to offer government-supported financial incentives through the Ministry of Health based on the following circumstances:

  • Critical care nurses from out of province or out of the country, including Canadians currently working in the U.S., are eligible for up to $75,000 in signing bonuses.
  • Registered nurses from out of province or out of the country, including Canadians currently working in theU.S., are eligible for up to $25,000 in signing bonuses who join in general practice nursing.
  • Retired registered nurses and currently unemployed registered nurses in Ontario are eligible for up to$25,000 (critical care) and $10,000 (general nursing) in signing bonus.

The government incentives are designed to help Ontario hospitals directly support new critical care and high-intensity medicine beds as part of its COVID-19 investments and are part of a larger government effort to add needed critical care capacity.
