Unidentified Body Located In The Detroit River In LaSalle

Police in LaSalle continues to investigate after an unidentified body was pulled from the Detroit River.

Police say that just before 10:30 am on Sunday, May 30th, 2021, they were contacted by a boater after discovering the body at the surface of the water along the eastern shore of Fighting Island near the LaSalle boat launch.

LaSalle Police Service, LaSalle Fire Service and the Ontario Provincial Police Service Marine Unit attended the area to recover the body.

The identity or age of the person is unknown at this time.

A coroner was contacted to investigate along with the LaSalle Police Service Criminal Investigation Unit and Forensic Unit. The investigation is in its very early stages, and more details are expected in the coming days.
