5 Ways To Celebrate April Break During Lockdown

Spring break from school may be a bit later this year but that means warmer temps during time off and some new things to try! Explore our green spaces by taking a nature hike or get creative with some paint-your-own-pottery kits or play in the dirt with some new plants.  There is still plenty of fun ways to explore some time off while remaining safe.  Stay local and explore our boutiques as you #shopYQG or maybe #DineYQG and pick up some take-out so that nobody has to cook (or do the dishes!).

Play in the Dirt

Get out the shovels and gardening gloves after you make a trip out to Colasanti’s Tropical Gardens to do a curbside pick up of some bright plants to celebrate spring in your home! Order from their array of cacti, succulents and other beautiful greens and while you’re there don’t forget to add some fresh made doughnuts and broaster chicken to your order to take home for dinner!

Explore Our Trails

Grab a copy of our Cycle Tourism Map and take to the trails either by two-wheels or by foot! If you haven’t explored the Windsor Sculpture Park, also known as The Gallery Without Walls, along Windsor’s Riverfront Trail this is a great time to do so! Enjoy the fresh air and take in the multitude of sculptures and art installations along the path.

Get Your hands dirty

Get crafty and unleash your inner artist by picking up a paint at home pottery kit from Sketch Art Workshop! Plenty of new spring pieces are ready for your artistic touch – maybe grab a new planter to customize for your finds at our local garden centres!

Nature Hike at Ojibway

What will you discover on a hike through Ojibway Prairie and Nature Centre? Keep your eyes out for spring flower blooms, painted rocks. butterflies and spring birds! This week is a great time to get outside and explore our parks, trails and green spaces.

Practice Your Putts

Spend some time in the sunshine over at Roseland Golf & Curling Club – last place in your foursome has to buy the beer for the others!!  Enjoy spring temps with every drive, putt and chip as you shake off winter on the course.

We may have pared this list down to just five ways but check out our website for outdoor and family friendly places to explore and stay tuned for our April Break Events Guide with even more great ideas! Check out our online event calendar which we update daily as new socially distanced and virtual events get announced.
